Heading south to Mexico

Here we are at the US border at Coutts AB. It was noon when we arrived, and we were really surprised at the lineup.  It took us 35 minutes to get through and then we had to go through a secondary inspection where they run your car through a metal detector.  They asked about the white box in the back of the car which was our heat exchanger for the motor on the boat. Barry told him what it was and he seemed happy with our explanation and let us drive on.

It was a beautiful drive. There was very little snow in southern Alberta and northern Montana. As we got further south and higher into the mountains there was more snow.  The roads have been clear so far with only about 20 km with snow in the passing lane through one of the passes.

We were given an Inreach GPS by our good friend Brad, and we have had it on giving updates of our position since we left Red Deer. Every time the car started climbing I would grab it and find out our altitude. I really enjoyed seeing the numbers trend up and down, the highest we were so far was over 6100 feet or about 1875 meters.
We stopped for the night in Butte Montana and we happily stayed in a semi swanky hotel (not a dive). Our hard work before Christmas at Diversified Staffing in Red Deer allowed us to not need to hunt around for the best deal. We are headed for Provo, Idaho today.
